VP NextGen Architecture, Gulf Bridge International (GBI)
Rick Hillson is VP NextGen Architecture for Gulf Bridge International (GBI), tasked with delivering a network transformation based on a highly agile, open, and orchestrated architecture. In support of this new network, GBI has recently completed deployment of an international SD-WAN solution. Rick has 25 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry encompassing Network Engineering, Legal, Carrier Relations, Customer Service, Technical Support and Partner Operations. Prior to working for GBI, Rick was a founding executive of the Bahraini licensed operator 2Connect for 12 years. He was also previously the leader of Emergency Technical Support in the EMEA region for Nortel Networks. He has also held customer service and operational management positions with Call-Net Telecommunications in Canada, and DataAccess India.
Rick holds a PGDip in Telecommunications with Business from University College London (UCL). He previously attended the Management Development Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business and also gained a DipHE in Computing from Brunel University in London. During his rapidly diminishing spare time Rick lists golfing and mountain climbing as his main leisure pursuits.
